Tumaini School - Nairobi, KenyaWe have been supporting Tumaini for many years with the intention of assisting and encouraging our partners in both countries to move towards being self sustaining. We feel that we are nearing this goal. Tumaini means Hope in Kiswahili, and hope was the driving force when sponsorship of this school started in 2005. Originally a project with 45 students being schooled in a building with dirt floors and tin walls, these students and a few staff had little to work with other than their desire to give and receive an education. Now, 17 years later, over 200 students have completed part / all of their Primary education.
We still have a few students we are committed to supporting until they finish at Tumaini at the end of grade 8. As well we have committed to continuing to support the feeding program so all students have access to 2 hot meals a day. |

We are supporting the board and staff at Tumaini in their efforts to secure other funding such as; attracting families from outside the area that will pay fees, negotiating with the government for some of the ‘free primary education’ funding as they are eligible as a non-profit school, as well as taking advantage of other NGO’s working in the area.
If anyone is interested in supporting by making a general donation to our education projects that would be extremely welcomed. It would be used towards the feeding program as well as other student need.
